I saw the pattern for this smock top by King Cole in Riot 'Wicked' and knew my little girl would love it.

And she does! Made a size too small though I think! The sleeves and body are a little short so I think I'm going to crochet a little border to add some length to it.

Baby Boys Jumper FINISHED!

Baby Blanket Complete

Our friends in Japan have just had their second baby, so I thought I'd make a pram blanket for her:

I crochetted it using the dc, ch1 stitch, which has a lovely 'moss stitch' like look about it:

I thought this would be a good stitch for a baby blanket as I'm absolutely paranoid about babies getting their fingers stuck in patterns with bigger holes.

I'm also knitting a jumper for their older son (he's 2), so I'll show you that when it's finished.....soon.

It's Katamari Time!

My hubby absolutely LOVES Katamari (I must admitt I love it too).

For those who don't know what Katamari is, it's a PS3 game that is completely Japanese in every way. It involves rolling a sticky ball around and picking up as much stuff as you can to get big.

My hubby found a website where you can print out and make the characters and I thought I would make a little Katamari ball to go with him. Here it is:

The little nodes have magnets in them so you actually can pick up stuff!

All the way from the lovely Suzanna in Austria is my second swap lot for the SIBOL swap on Ravelry. Isn't it just soooo wonderful! Two gorgeous crochet squares (i'm hoping to make a lapghan with them), a tube of Pez sweets (I'll be fighting over them with my hubby and daughter!) two lovely postcards (one of which is a fabulous 3D guinea-pig and the best of all - an actual guinea-pig teddy - wow I love him sooo much!!!!

CRAFT FAYRE - SUTTON VILLAGE HALL, nr Biggleswade

I'm very excited to be taking part in a Craft Fayre on Saturday, 30th April at Sutton Village Hall (near Biggleswade). It's a lovely old village which has some great history, a sweet little Ford as well as some gorgeous old houses.

The Fayre will be open to the public from 12pm till 5pm and there is a great sellection of handmade items (no mass produced or made to look handmade). These are items made by local people.

SIBOL Squares

I hope they are ok - I made the Rainbow one up myself and it has come out a little squewif.

The rainbow and the skipping rope one are for the 'Young at Heart' blanket, the green square is for the Circle of Friendship blanket and the last is for the Jan Eaton #2.

The ladies over at SIBOL wanted to use Priscilla Hewitts 'Circle of Friendship' crochet square pattern to make a blanket but the pattern is 8 inches (SIBOL uses 6 inch squares).

I had a little play with Priscillas pattern and came up with this pattern which comes out at 6 inches:

Using DK acrylic yarn and 4mm hook (English terms):

1. Make a magic circle. ch 3, 15 tr into circle and pull tight. sl st into top of 3 ch. (16 sts)

2. dc and tr into same st as sl st and each tr around, sl st into first dc (32 sts)

3. dc in same st as sl st, *ch 3, sk tr and dc into into next dc, repeat from * to end, sl st into first dc (16 3ch gaps)

4. sl st into first gap, ch 3, 2 tr in same gap, 3 tr in each gap around, sl st into top of 3 ch (48 sts)

5. dc in same st as sl st, *tr in next st, dc in next, repeat from * to end, sl st into first dc (48 sts)

6. dc in same st, *ch 3, sk tr and dc in next dc, repeat from * around, sl st into first dc (24 ch 3 gaps)

7. sl st into first gap, ch 3, 2 tr, ch 2, 3 tr in same gap. *3 htr in next gap, 3 dc in next 3 gaps, 3 htr in next gap, 3 tr, ch 2, 2 tr in next. Repeat from * around, sl st into top of 3 ch

8. ch 3, work 1 tr in each st around and 2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr in each corner gap, sl st into top of 3 ch and fasten off thread.

Grandma Love Cushion

It's a foggy, miserable day outside but in the world of hooking and knitting it never can be!

I've just finished making this cushion for a friend:

The photo is terrible (a night time photo never works), so you can't see the colours very well. The pattern is called 'Grandma Love Cushion' and is available from The Royal Sisters blog.

I've also been knitting me a skirt over the past month. I finished it last night, I was soooo excited, but...... IT'S TOO BIG!!! Waaaaaaa!!! It's meant to be quite figure hugging with a flare at the bottom but it's loose and the hem tucks in instead! 8( I seem to be doomed making anything for myself! I crochetted a jacket for myself a couple of months ago and that came out too small! I never make anything for me but I really wanted to be able to wear something that I'd made. Is someone trying to tell me something?

Gedifra Selena Pattern HELP!

Hello! It's been AGES hasn't it?!

So sorry it has been so long but I have been beavering away knitting and crochetting so many things you wouldn't believe it! So much so that I've started getting a achey shoulder!

I've gotten myself stuck though and need your help; I have purchased 12 balls of Gedifra Selena ribbon yarn (3 balss of each colour in photo below). Each ball is 50g and 85m with a recommended size 8 needle (think that's a 4mm). How I haven't knitted or crochetted with a ribbon yarn before and I have no idea what to make! Neither can I find a decent pattern anywhere. Preferably I would like to use all the colours in one project but I am really stumped!

I would be sooo grateful to anyone out the who can offer a pattern suggestion in either knitting or crochet. I don't mind what it is (as long as it's not a scarf, hat or gloves XD)

A Double Whammy!!!

Oooo I've been sooo busy crochetting away. I am just LOVING hooking up lovely little things.

Here's my two latest creations....

I finished this rug about two months ago. It's in plain Double crochet using Rowan Spray, which is a lovely thick yarn (60% wool, 40% acrylic):
Only one problem, the colour doesn't match any of my rooms! The yarn was a fantastic bargain find on eBay, you know the type - 'it would be rude to leave it in the shop' kind of bargain.

And, just finished today:
A lovely little jumper crochetted in Patons Diploma Gold 4 ply. It's called 'Swivel' and it's from the Patons Falling Leaves pattern book (the pattern is for an adult but I adapted it). My little girl loves it - it shows doesn't it :)

I'm sorry to anyone out there who still visits my blog (LOL!)

I keep forgetting to take photos of the things I've been crochetting! I made a lovely scarf for a friend which, by pure fluke, matched perfectly with her coat. And I've also made a gorgeous green shawl for my grandmother-in-law - I especially can't believe I forgot to photo that one, it was gorgeous!

Tut-tut! I promise I'll try harder! I'm currently working on a pretty little top for my daughter, which I will photo as soon as I finish it.

I am also trying to crochet as many things as I can for the Knit-A-Square charity (www.knit-a-square.com) which takes knitted and crochetted items and distributes them to orphaned and abandoned children in Africa, most of whom also have HIV/AIDS. We wouldn't think that it gets cold in Africa but apparently it does and the children with HIV/AIDS especially feel it. You must check out the website and, if you can knit or crochet, join in. I'm Still Here!

Sorry I haven't posted for a while - been working hard clearing out my stamping stuff. I've decided to keep a little bit of stamping stuff (hee, hee - can't really keep away can I!).

I've also been teaching myself crochet too these last two months and I'm really pleased with my progress so far. This week I made the following bag for my little girl who specifically asked for a pink and red crochet bag.

SWU Sketch Challenge

As you can tell I'm not happy with it but I ran out of time to think about it - October is prooving to be very busy! I love the Pink Flamingo paper from SU and I think it kinda speaks for itself, so that's where I was going with this one.

A6 Card Box

I've really been enjoying the on-line workshop with SWU so far - it always a blast! Monica gave us a tutorial on making this box:
The lid slides up the ribbon so you can access the cards inside. I managed to fit 8 A6 cards and envelopes inside. The design reminds me of the boxes the Enterprise crew used to wear on their hips (you know the Captain Kirk days!).

My hubby has just finished making our little girl a playhouse and she's decided that she wants to play shops in it. She asked me for a sign to go in the window that says 'open' and 'closed' so I made this for her with my much loved 'A Rose Is A Rose' set (sorry for the poor photo):
She's chosen blue and white for the colours of her playhouse and I've made her some blue gingham curtains to go inside, so this is going to match wonderfully. I had so much fun making it too.

I had some material left over after making my little girl some curtains for her wendy house (that hubby has nearly finished making). It's such lovely gingham material so I decided to make myself a clothes peg bag, so I made it this morning (it's got cute little wooden heart buttons on it that I found in a local wool shop) :
After making though, I love it sooo much that I decided that I'm going to send it to a wonderful friend in Japan who accommodated us when we went a couple of years ago. I know she'll just love it! You know I'm always doing this - making things and then giving them away! I don't think I have anything in the house that I've made myself because I just have to give them away!

Todays sneak peek doubles up with Claire's 'Green' card competition over at Waltzingmouse Makes (you must check out her blog). Not only do I get to use my favourite colour but I also get to use my current favourite stamp from the Circle Circus set. The versatility of this set is amazing, these circles can be used as shown above, as buttons, wheels, trees, balls, decorations etc. And the patterns are sooo gorgeous, they would make great Asian style cards. They look gorgeous jazzed up with glitter, pearls, buttons etc. What more could you ask for? The best stamps are versatile stamps and that's what this one is.

Sorry the photo is terrible - the card looks a lot nicer 'in the flesh'! I made this using the 'Autumn Days' set and I was inspired to make a wedding style card after a lady on ILWS asked if it could be done with this set. Has it been achieved? (maybe I used the wrong colours?)

I was taking my little girl to school yesterday and she said 'look mummy' - I looked where she was pointing and she said 'look at all those leaves!' - AHHHHH! Autumn's here isn't it - NO! That means winter's coming too :( don't get me wrong - I do like the changes in the colours and the lovely sunsets but I can't stand the cold and miserable weather!

Ok that's my rave over now, onto a more positive note - here's my sneak peek card no. 8 for you:
This was half inspired by a lady's card on ILWS and half my own idea - I think it was a case of great minds think alike.

I used one of the 'Queue Up' stamps - this is such a great stamp set - you and your friends, family, strangers etc, MUST save up and get this hostess set, it's just fabulous!

The funeral is on Friday and me and my sisters are going to to make our own floral tribute on thursday, so I'll try and take a photo for you.

Weekend Sketch Challenge 88

What a hectic week! VERY sadly, my dear Grampy passed away on Monday shocking everyone, especially my poor Nanna. I've been running backwards and forwards to my Nanna's house and phoning around like mad, trying to help wherever I can. Today is the first day where I've been able to stop for a few hours, although I've got to dye my hair and go to the hair dressers for 12pm!. Same as when I had post-natal, I decided to escape by making a card, so I jotted down a few sketches and decided to go with the Weekend Sketch Challenge. I used my new Anya stamp:
I feel like it's laking something but, not having much of a brain today, I'll just leave it and see if anything comes to me another time - unless you have any suggestions?
